Steelgrid system

The Steelgrid system represents evolution to the typical and simple drapery system for rockfall protection.
This system is made by combination of double twisted mesh with steel wire reinforcement ropes firmly woven inside the mesh itself.

The Steelgrid MO (mono-oriented) geo-composite has the 8mm diameter steel cables placed longitudinally to the roll as edging wire and also at the center of the roll.
The Steelgrid BO (bi-oriented) geo-composites have the 8mm diameter steel cables placed longitudinally to the roll as edging wire and also at the center of the roll; transversally they are placed inside the double twists and closed around the slot-shaped edging cables using aluminum sleeves.

Usage

Protection of infrastructure and constructions located near to natural or man-made cut sections in rocks. This system provides stabilization of rocky areas containing potentially unstable rocks whose size is between one and one and a half cubic meter. This kind of protection belongs to the group of active systems for rockfall protection.

Wire

The wire used for production of the mesh is heavily galvanized with Galmac ( Zn, 5%Al).

Characteristics

Double twisted mesh is the ideal solution due both to its flexibility in every direction and the fact that gaps in the mesh are avoided in the event of accidental breakage of some wires.
The complete system consists of anchors, steel ropes and steel wire mesh.
Connecting the longitudinal steel ropes with the anchor ropes gives rigidity to the system and better use of the function of the anchors.
